Description: Project - Modified was the very first song to be posted on digint's mp3.com website. The concept for this song, interestingly enough, originated from a project that came along before DigInt officially began - DEK Radio, my first-ever experience with anything akin to broadcast radio, many years before Life to a Beat. With the advent of live365.com, and the completion of a Macintosh mp3 program capable of Shoutcast streaming, DEK Radio was my first foray into the world of broadcast radio. Before a lack of interest and live365's increasingly intrusive advertising practices (not to mention getting a real broadcast radio show) sent DEK Radio into a years-long hiatus, in the midst of it, I decided to create some interesting station breaks to put between songs on the playlist. The first few tries at doing this were largely unsuccessful, though, until I had the idea of doing something with beatbox vocals (not having a drum machine made this a necessity). After recording a sample that I liked, I decided to play around with it for a while in a sound-editing program I had at the time, and added a "DEK Radio" tag at the end. After DEK Radio was (temporarily) discontinued, I listened to the tags again, and decided this one was interesting enough to listen to on its own. The tag, with the DEK Radio portion stripped off, became Project - Modified.
